Error Classification
Seven error classes identified instantly: timeout, auth, rate-limit, server-error, schema-mismatch, network, and unknown. Each class triggers a tailored recovery path.
Circuit Breaker
CLOSED → OPEN → HALF_OPEN state machine. After 3 consecutive failures the circuit opens — stopping further requests to the failing endpoint until cooldown expires.
Auto-Retry with Backoff
Exponential backoff starting at 30 seconds, doubling each retry up to 10 minutes, plus random jitter to prevent thundering herd. Retries happen automatically.
Recovery Probe
After cooldown, a probe request tests the endpoint. Success closes the circuit — traffic resumes. Failure re-opens the circuit with an incremented retry counter.
